1. His Royal Highness, Oba Adedokun Abolarin, The Orangun of Oke-Ila (Chairman)

obaFirst class Traditional Leader, Educationist and Constitutional Lawyer. He holds two Bachelors degrees in Political Science and Law and Masters degrees in International Relations and Law, all from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Nigeria. He was the Senior Partner at Dokun Abolarin Barristers and Solicitors, a member of Editorial Board of Nigeria Tribune Newspapers for many years and Solicitor to The Nigerian Tell Magazine. He was also a Special Adviser to the Senate President of Nigeria on Legal Matters and later the Constitutional Lawyer to the Nigeria Senate. Since ascending the throne as the Orangun of Oke-Ila in 2006, he has concentrated his effort at improving governance at grassroots level and educating the people.

Despite the onerous task of governance as a first class King, he is actively involved in promoting knowledge management through regular public and academic lectures.

 

2. Godwin Nwabunka (Ph.D.) Secretary

Development expert and Microfinance professional. He holds a Ph.D. in Development Economics from Gregorian University, Rome. He served the United Nations System for 19 years in various managerial capacities. Between 1990 and 2000, he held various professional positions at the United Nations Development Programme, UNDP.

As pioneer manager of the UNDP assisted MicroStart programme, he guided the identification and contracting of ASA Bangladesh to promote best practice in microfinance and financial intermediation for the poor in Nigeria which led to the emergence of three market leaders – LAPO (Benin City, Edo State), DEC (Bauchi State), and Centre for Grassroots Economic Empowerment (CGEE, previously known as JPDC, Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State).

 

3. Dr. Noel Ihebuzor (Member)

DrNoelDevelopment expert, educationist, author and counselor. He holds a Ph.D. in Education from University of Leeds, and Masters degree in Public Policy and Management from the University of York. He is presently Country Chief of Education, UNICEF, Tanzania.

He was also Country Chief of Education in Democratic Republic of Congo, and Somalia as well as Chief of Field Office of UNICEF, Lagos. Dr. Ihebuzor was also Head of Community Development Planning at Shell Nigeria, Project Officer, UNESCO and a former Director in Federal Ministry of Education.

 

 

4. Mrs. Adaobi Dike (Member)

MrsChike A qualified Accountant and Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants of the United Kingdom, Mrs. Dike brings to the Governing Council of Grooming Centre, a strong academic background, practical accounting experience and professional experience in UK GAAP and IFRS, a passion for excellence and extensive finance experience with fast growth companies.

She is a creative and highly motivated professional with proficiency in building and leading finance teams with sound quantitative and analytical skills. She has worked as an Accountant with PricewaterhouseCoopers (Nigeria), The Salvation Army (UKT) London and Tate & Lyle PLC London. Presently she is the financial controller of eCommera Ltd, London. She has proven ability to drive change quickly and seamlessly within highly pressurized business environments, which are rapidly changing as a result of organic growth, company acquisitions and organizational restructuring.

 

 

5. Dr. Afolabi Atolagbe (Member)

DrAtolagbeVeterinary doctor, educationist and Rotarian; He has over 15 years of public service experience in agriculture and animal health and care. He is presently the Managing Director, Chief Executive of Yam Farms Nigeria Limited and Pestajid Nigeria Limited. He is also the Chairman of Dorbis Group of Schools, Ojoo Lagos and former Rotary President of Rotary Gbagada, Lagos. He was Special Adviser to the Minister for Works, and later Special Adviser to the Minister for Communications of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. He is a businessman of repute and a strong grassroots mobilizer.

 

 

 

6. Mr. Frank Odoemenam (Member)

MrFrankMr. Frank Odoemenam is a Microfinance Consultant and a Researcher at the University of Bielefeld, Germany, where he is completing a PhD programme in Microfinance and Microenterprises Development. Mr. Odoemenam holds a Bachelors degree in Philosophy and a Masters degree in Development Policy and Planning. He has been actively involved in Microfinance Practice and Research for about 8 years covering many parts of Africa including Nigeria, Senegal, The Gambia, and Cameroon. He is an associate member of the European Microfinance Platform, a forum which brings together major investors and practitioners of microfinance in Europe. Mr. Odoemenam also serves as Board member of Umuchukwu Microfinance Bank Ltd, where he assisted in the conversion of the bank from a community bank to a regulated Microfinance Bank. He doubles as Grooming Centre's representative in Europe and America.

 

 

7. Adesoji Tayo (Ex-Officio)

sojiprofileDevelopment Manager and Specialist. He holds a Ph.D. in Business Information Management from Babcock University Nigeria. He served the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) in Nigeria for over 14 years in different professional positions. He was coordinator of the Urban Basic Services project with a component on micro credit for the urban poor in Lagos and Ibadan. He was in the core team that prepared the Profile of   five Urban LGAs circulated to UNICEF offices worldwide in 1997 as good practice. He played a key role in preparing the UNICEF Community Development programme (2002-2008) which promoted participatory learning approaches in communicating and mobilizing communities for positive change.  Mr. Tayo has co-authored two books on Social Development Planning and Building Community Capacity for Participatory Development, being used currently by community development students in Nigeria. A State Award Winner on Community Development and Secretary of the Board of Trustees of Grooming Centre. He is a skilled trainer and facilitator and has been providing leadership in the strategic positioning and growth of Grooming Centre as Executive Director from November, 2009.

 
 

8. Alexander Nnamdi (Ex-Officio)


MrAlex Mr. Enyinnah holds a Master degree in Banking and Finance from University of Siena, Italy. He is a seasoned microfinance disciple with over 23 years continuous involvement in hardcore banking and promotion of microfinance. He has been exposed to international best practices in microfinance delivery in Asia, U.S.A. and Africa. Before joining Grooming Centre he was working with ASA Bangladesh as the National Technical Service Provider to the UNDP MicroStart project and later consultant to UNDP on consolidating the gains of the MicroStart project in the three most promising microfinance institutions (LAPO, DEC and CGEE). He had received various trainings on Microfinance Worldwide, including the renowed University of Colorado, Boulder in 2003. He was elected as a delegate to the World Microcredit Summit in Bangladesh in 2004; was a member of the 10-man Advisory Board for UNDP, National Planning Commission and Central Bank of Nigeria on Micro finance.

 

 

9. Laura Omachefu (Member)

amasihohuprofileMrs. Omachefu holds a Bachelors degree in Banking and Finance from Ambrose Alli University and a Masters degree from Ladoke Akintola University, Ogbomosho. She commenced her microfinance practice through extensive training and association with LAPO, a leading MF market player and was a pioneer member of Grooming Centre. Since 2010, she has attended several training programs on Microfinance and Risk Management within and outside Nigeria, attaining certification in Risk Management from the University of New Hampshire in conjunction with the Sustainable Micro-enterprise Development Program in Ghana. She is also a certified Enterprise Risk Manager (CERM) and a member of the International Academy of Business and Financial Management. Within 2013-2014, she has undergone professional training in International Financial Reporting Standard (IFRS) and is an awardee of the Frankfurt School of Finance & Management and the Microfinance Certificate Program (MCP).
